Work continues at Swan Meadow rural habitat a peaceful retreat for dog walkers, families and amblers alike. Earlier this year the storm fallen mighty oak was given a new lease of life in the form of the kite carving that now proudly graces the east of the Meadow and the remainder was transformed into a bench by the skilled hands and chainsaw of Brian Savill of Ecoarb. The bench has now been re-situated with much thanks to the community minded generosity of spirit of the gentlemen of Practicality Brown who gave so freely of their time and equipment.
A brass rubbing nature trail has also been commissioned, delivered and installed by team Groundwork and to the far East of the entrance to the Meadow you may find a surprise or two unfolding in this often unexplored public space, a *hibernaculum is in place alongside a Deluxe Insect & Bug Hotel.
Take time out, wander down and explore Swan Meadow where a little nature based magic is slowly unfolding for all to enjoy. You will find it located on Swan Road just pass through the stone pillars and there it lies on the left.
Love the place you live.
*A hibernaculum plural form: hibernacula (Latin, "tent for winter quarters") is a place in which a creature seeks refuge, such as a bear using a cave to overwinter. The word can be used to describe a variety of shelters used by many kinds of animals, including insects, toads, lizards, snakes, bats, and rodents.
