National Volunteer Week 1st - 7th June - Thank You
This year’s Volunteers Week (1-7 June) comes at a time where the impact of volunteering on those around us is clearer than ever.
Many of you have been volunteering to work with us to co-ordinate The Ivers' response to Covid-19 over the past few months. With your help we have set up and run a hotline providing support and help to all and our Community Kindness project has been organising the collections and delivery of food parcels to shielding and vulnerable residents. The many donations we have received from local groups organising their own activities has been amazing.
There are also many people who give of the time, enthusiasm and dedication to voluntary work throughout the year who haven’t been able to carry on their normal activities during the Covid-19 pandemic.
This Volunteers Week is a chance to celebrate and thank all volunteers for their contributions.
Chairman Wendy Matthews said:
“Every year, volunteers across our three villages centres provide vital support and contribute a great deal to life here in The Ivers.
The Ivers owes a huge debt of gratitude to the people who give their time freely to help others and, especially this year, to help vulnerable people in our community who have needed their support.
It has been heartening to see our communities come together to look after each other throughout the Covid-19 crisis.
On behalf of The Ivers Parish Council, I’d like to thank everyone who volunteers for the vital work they do and continue to do."
