Traffic
and Heavy Goods Vehicles in Iver.
The
Report from the Transport Consultation that was held in Iver Village
Hall on June 8th 2012 has now been published.
NB.
This is a draft report which still has to be approved by the council,

Heavy
Goods Vehicles, HGVs, must be licensed by VOSA (Vehicle &
Operator Services Agency) to operate from a named centre. Unfortunately
many HGVs are licenced to centres in Iver; mainly Court lane and
Thorney Business Park but also the former Cape Boards site in
Iver Lane.
In
order to get a licence the operator must first advertise in local
papers in the area of the operating centre and state where vehicles
are to be stored and how many vehicles and trailers are to be
kept there.
The
Parish Council has no right to object but takes every opportunity
to make clear that Iver has too many HGVs on unsuitable roads.
The
local papers are searched for notices advertising the intention
to apply for a Goods Vehicle Operator Licence, (GVOL) and details
will be posted on the Parish Council website.
Local
people do have the right to make representations to
the Traffic Commissioner and
usually must object on environmental grounds.
Advertisements
for VOSA state:-
‘Owners
and occupiers of land (including buildings) near the operating
centre who believe that their use or enjoyment would be affected,
should make written representations to the Traffic Commissioner
at Hillcrest House, 386 Harehills Lane, Leeds, LS9 6NF, stating
their reasons, within 21 days of this notice. Representors
must at the same time send a copy of their representations to
the applicant at the address given.'
More
information about making representation against the grant of an
operator's licence is on the VOSA website - click this link.
www.dft.gov.uk/vosa/contactus/sharingintelligence/raisinganobjectionagainstanoperator.htm#top
It
is only by making representation that VOSA and Traffic Commissioners
will understand that Iver cannot keep accepting more HGVs.

here.
The
Parish Council will endeavor to publish the names of applicants
as soon as possible after their advertisements appear in the press.
A
note of the date when new applications are added to this page
will be highlighted on the Home page of our website. |
