Official Statement - Grand Union House, The Ridgeway, Iver Emergency Housing Proposal
The Ivers Parish Council has considerable concerns about the proposed use by South Bucks District Council of this residential conversion for emergency housing. Grand Union House is located on a very busy industrial estate which operates twenty four hours a day seven days a week, with large HGVs moving around the site continually. The entire industrial estate has inadequate parking, vehicles are parked on the pavement, and therefore the safety of families using the pavements must be of prime concern. Access to the local shops will be via Thorney Lane North where HGV’s regularly mount the pavement (see below). There are no open spaces on the industrial estate for children, and provision would need to be made on the site itself for a safe play area, and outside amenities space for residents. There is a minimal bus service and no connection to the rest of the district.
The Ridgeway is a privately owned Industrial Estate and therefore no parking enforcement can be carried out. Furthermore the impact on the local services must be taken into consideration in particular local schools and health provisions.
The Ivers Parish Council is pressing SBDC to ensure that these families are properly supported. The Ivers Parish Council will keep residents informed as this proposal progresses. Please see the below link Agenda Item 14 for further details.
