PINEWOOD ROAD CLOSURE - UPDATE FROM PINEWOOD STUDIOS
Affinity Water have confirmed that Pinewood Road will remained closed for several days, although they are hopeful it will be completed by Friday 6th March.
Water supply should be back to normal – however, for anyone experiencing issues with their water supply please call Customer Services 0345 357 2407 or Leakspotters (24hr) 0345 357 2402 who will log and dispatch an engineer.
Following correspondence and phone calls from residents; I’d like to reassure you that Pinewood Studios takes the actions of our employees, tenants and productions seriously both on and off the lot where they impact our neighbours and wider local community. The Emergency Road Closure by Affinity Water to resolve the Fresh Water Main leak has caused a large amount of confusion around access routes, both to the Studio population and the local area.
To help try to ease congestion, our southern perimeter gate has been opened to allow the traffic entrance and exit to the Studio south of the closure, removing the need for people to attempt to bypass the closure. This route is unfortunately unsafe in the northbound direction.
Following reports of cars bypassing the blockage by driving on the pavement, the Pinewood team sent security officers down to investigate. The local police were called and requested to support with managing the traffic situation caused by the Council’s emergency road closure. The police did attend but could not remain on site, however they did confirm that Affinity Water’s signage and barriers followed their Temporary Road Closure Permit.
We have had an officer stationed north of the road closure, fitted with a body camera, to ensure no southbound traffic attempts to bypass the blockage. We have had a second officer stationed south of the road closure providing diversion route details to lost drivers and recording inconsiderate parking. All vehicles parked along local residential roads are being tracked back to the owners to request they move their cars onto the lot via the diversion and warned of sanctions against them should they persist in this behaviour.
We are actively investigating the complaints regarding vehicles driving on grass verges and cycleways to bypass the blockage, but any information you can provide us on times and vehicle descriptions will help us to track them as they pass onto the lot and into our CCTV coverage area. We will take disciplinary action against any Pinewood Employee who is confirmed to have engaged in this behaviour and will encourage our production clients to do the same in regard to any of their own staff confirmed to have acted in this manner.
We shall continue to keep you updated as and when information is given to us by Affinity Water.
