Swan Meadow Welcomes The Forest School & Fine Feathered Friends
The Ivers Parish Council welcomed some very special visitors last week to Swan Meadow, the Forest School Children and some fine feathered friends.
Hawkwalk treated our little visitors to informative talks on Birds Of Prey followed by thrilling flight displays from Owls, Ravens, Merlins, Peregrine Falcons, Red Kites and Buzzards! What a wonderful way to spend a day in the sunshine with such beautifully behaved and engaging little guests, the children made clay faces for the trees, net swept the long grasses for bugs and butterflies ... no creatures were harmed and all were released back into their habitat having been carefully inspected.
We visited the Insect Hotel found to the east of the meadow and the Hibernaculum ... no snakes uncovered there. The children shook trees to see what insect life lies hidden in the canopies, all under the guidance of our Conservationist Matt who answered an array of curious questions from our charming little guests.
This often unexplored conservation site is open to all, it is a work in progress and we are delighted that the Forest school are to make regular educational trips here.
Why not stroll down to Swan Meadow and watch a little nature based magic unfold, you will find it located on Swan Road, just pass through the stone pillars and there it lies on the left.
